The course includes a comparative presentation of the most common misuses and most frequently used false friends in legal English by judges and prosecutors from different European states, accompanied by the presentation of the correct terms in English.
There are situations where there are no English words corresponding to terms in various European languages. Such situations are also discussed and solutions are proposed in order to avoid the use of false friends.

Cele szkolenia:

Participants will be able to use the correct legal terms in English and, where there are no English words corresponding to words/institutions in their own languages, to explain what the respective institutions are about. Participants will learn how to use legal terms correctly, be specific, and speak a common language, so that what they want to communicate is clear to any counterpart in Europe.

The terminology is compared to present similarities and differences in their meaning, particularly putting some emphasis on socio-political and cultural contexts.
